Took me a good 5 minutes to get the exception list fixed so I could log in. So much for troubleshooting skillz!

Let’s do some brief monthly updates to catch up shall we?

July – Got married to Jen at the end of the Month, went on honeymoon to Oregon Coast and had a great time with our California family.

August – Went to PAX which was awesome. So much so that we are going this year for the whole 3 days and booking a room down town to fully enjoy the experience with friends.

September – Worked worked worked.

October – Applied for Senior Analyst position at work.

November – Promoted to Senior Analyst, mayhem ensues (actually I just continued to do whatever I wanted).

December – Had two Christmas’. One at our Apartment in Seattle with Jen’s family, another in Vancouver the weekend after with my family. Received a sweet LCD TV from my parents.

January – Made New Years Resolutions: Get less fat (not working), love life (working as intended), keep in touch with friends (going well!).

February – Jen is traveling alot for work, I am trying to maintain a Job at my company as my group is currently being looked at for Outsourcing… hopefully I can keep my awesome momentum at the company.

This weekend we are driving down to Vancouver to visit the family. We plan on eating out at our favorite restaurants (Burgerville, Lindo Mexico, Sushi) and seeing our friends. This will be fun but I am missing my second week of LEAGUE BOWLING. Yes that’s right, I joined a practice league with some friends. I take it very not seriously so it’s great. Every Sunday I drink a bunch of beer and bowl with my fellow “Tacocopters” (the name chosen after the compromise for the two most voted names, “Taco Fiesta” and “ROFLCOPTER”) . I used to be a fierce bowler but I don’t much care anymore. This weekend I hope to purchase my own Bowling ball… surpisingly the one of my choice is LIME scented, did you know bowling balls came in scents?

I still play the WoW! I have 33 druid on Jen’s brothers PVE server. It’s a nice change of pace once you pass level 20. I’ve also been playing REZ which is such an experience I highly recommend. Also we play Rock Band almost every weekend with friends and drinks which I can’t stress enough how fun that is. Call of Duty 4 on Xbox and getting delt by my own brother online (it was bound to happen).

I’ve been reading various self help style books. Cool Time which is nice Time Management book that explains why you are bad at managing your time both psychologically and physiologically. I’m working on Project + Certification book which is dry but necessary for the resume. Also plowing through Never eat alone as I never really thought about networking at all until this book which is also a great read. Also reading a book about finding the leader within but I really don’t remember the title. Mostly work related since I used a work gift card to buy them. Learning a lot and hopefully enough to land at some position in the company after the sourcing.

The Voyage Out? May 22, 2006

So, we have arrived at the conclusion of the tale.  4… make it 5 years and counting.  And how does it end you may ask?  You shall see, read on and you shall see.

It ends with a bang, if you consider a 15 page research paper, another 5 page paper and a Collaborative Journal as something worthy of a "bang".   I'm starting the bulk of the research today and will be writing up the annotated bibliography for Wednesday.  The 5 page paper will be done in chunks… or so I hope over the week, and the Collaborative journal goes through an exchange process, of which it is my turn to do the writing and then exchanging… also this week.  Then from here on out it's write the research paper… assuming everything from this week is just some how done and finished on the timeline I just laid out.

And to think, I thought I might find a way to throw raiding into the picture this week with C'thun loot on the table, ha.

Well getting down to Vancouver was easy, if you consider it took about 5 hours from the point of leaving the apartment to the station where my parents picked me up.  The bus was 20 minutes late so our plan to meet on the bus and have dinner together before I left at Ouijimaya.  By the time we got to the end of the line, we had about 10 minutes to consume our steaming bowls of Pho, which I heartily do not recommend eating in that sort of time frame, and get into the station to grab my ticket.  Since I reserved my seats so late, I didn’t get to grab business class seats.

Since my work ethic is shit… literally http://worldofwarcraft.com/info/faq/parental-control-faq-small.html

Did I turn on Parental Controls on my account? YES.  Did I give the password to Jen have her change it and then not tell me? YES! Can I play past 11 during weeknights now? NOPE!  Can I play during work or class now? NOPE.  Can I Raid still? Yeah but if that raid doesn’t end on time, I surely do!

Thanks to 4 nights of late raiding and work in the mornings, our lives have gone to shit the past week.  If it keeps up like this I will be definetly be taking a break from it all since they can’t keep to a single fucking raid scheduel.  My Mother’s birthday is coming up this week and I know they really want me to go home but I’m so exhausted.  With less then 6 hours of sleep all week, no napping and a spotting eating habits, I’ve basicallly painted myself into a corner of getting sick.  Not sure if I’ll go home or not, I really just want to go home and sleep right now but this Hamlet presentation thing is this afternoon.  I haven’t really prepared, not much to do, we show the clips and then make some comments that will already be completely obvious to the class, and I’m sure our new professor will have some astute observations.  I’m also highly considering skipping Friday’s memorized dialogue in Italian so I can have one day of sleeping in and relaxing if in fact I decide to go back home.

I added a couple links to old friends blogs and I’m going to keep updating it as I find more places I like to visit.  So if you find your blog on there and were like… “wtf mate, you linked me” consider it a friendly hello.

Don’t being to mess with Jen when playing Mario Tennis, cause Shy Guy will take you to the court, or pavement, or whatever you take people to in Tennis when you deal them unexpectedly.  After a long cease in the war of the games between Jen and I, we broke out Mario Tennis last night in an effort to not fall asleep and played a few matches together.  Did I hold back and let her have a leisurely time of play, oh hell no.  It was balls out winner takes all, although she was the only one Trash Talking.  In the end, Luigi was victorious many times, and Shy Guy went to a corner to cry.

The raid went well, down Nefarian after two tries.  Went well because I got to quit at an early hour, but because of stomach problems ended up staying up watching West Wing until late.  I was really hoping that the Nuclear Power Plant on that episode would blow up since they are canceling the show.  Might as well take down all of America with you if you ask me.  But I leave out the most interesting bit of the night and the real reason for posting.

Eve Online and Raiding Woes January 23, 2006

Yes, my first post entirely game related! First up, I’m really sick of raiding in WoW. It honestly isn’t fun at all. In general I’d say it’s not fun after the first time, and for most just one more thing to do to help feed the addiction, or the want for purple loots. When I first signed up I honestly meant that I wasn’t too interested in raiding, and pretty much for the reasons that I don’t enjoy it now. People lost concept of it just being a game, they go too overboard about certain administrative aspects of leading raids and not tough enough on those that keep raiding worth doing. People who were fun to do small group quests and raids turn into bitches, barking out and yelling orders, not showing any respect for their colleagues and hardly accepting blame for simliar faults of their own. The worse of all traits of high end raiding has to be the “not knowing when to quit” syndrome which honestly to a normal person would be obvious be to these people is not. When you’ve been raiding for 6+ hours, and 2 or 3 of those hours spent sitting around not doing anything usually, people get fatigued, bored, and need to move on with their lives. Worse yet we don’t quit when it’s obvious that we have no control over what is hindering our progess, server lag, fatigue, whatever it may be we just keep running into that wall for the sake of running up repair costs at some points. The few times raiding has been enjoyable are usually when it’s most casual but people are still within that time frame of being interested in what they are doing so they try to perform better. But god that last time that happened it was aroung Christmas and it was a Karaoke Zul’gurrub raid not hosted by any particular officers.

So I’m going to try and keep the raiding to a minimum, I’ve gotten the stuff I wanted and wished for, and the things I want now would be cool but not wholey necessary for my survival in high end content. While at work my boss was showing me screens and such of Eve Online, which sounds alot like some of my favorite palm pilot games, trading space merchandies, flying around fighting pirates in a huge galaxy. Gonna give it a test go pretty soon here and then get back to you on how it actually plays.

Spending Money January 22, 2006

Jen was lucky enough to have one of her days of work be a Saturday so we were able to do whatever we wanted together.  This turned out to be both of us just staying together at home, watching Tivo, playing WoW, playing with the cat, all very relaxing.  At one point though we were bored with just watching Tivo and I casual suggested we go off to the mall.  That wouldn’t seem too odd a suggestion but as of late, neither of us enjoys the mall and apparently, spending money either.

We rarely go to the mall, I can’t remember the last time we went together, usually to buy me some sort of clothing that’s on sale or in search of some rare video game or DVD because Northgate Mall, as most malls are outside of down town, are gross.  The people in them vary in degree of “gross” depending on what point of the mall the hangout in the most.  Near the end with all the restaurants you have rather normal people, usually coming from Northern parts of Seattle to park their cars and shop or eat at the mall only walking to the end of it if there is a store there they need.  The opposite is true of the lower part of the mall, holding the food court and other such luxuries of those who either live nearby or are coming from South of Northgate mall.  The stores down there, JC Penny, Toys ‘ R ‘ US, Finishline, and places like Cinnabon and the Pretzel Shop fill that end, where most of the people who go to the mall just to BE at the mall stay and fill to high capacity.

Not every day you see M3 as an article where M3 is a main reason for buying a DS because I still find it amazing that perhaps anyone outside of Starmen.net knowing and having love for Earthbound. And then reid finds this freaky blog thing with Mr. Saturn plush dolls.
